Oxy-fuel cutting, a process that uses fuel gases and oxygen to cut metals, is one of the world’s oldest metal working processes. However, plasma cutting is rapidly becoming the cutting technology of choice worldwide. An experienced oxy-fuel user can deliver excellent results with plasma cutting, such as cutting very thick mild steel.
Plasma’s fast cut speeds, superior cut quality and ability to cut other kinds of metal make it an ideal choice for many metal cutting applications.
Plasma cutting is a process that is used to cut steel and other metals of different thicknesses (or sometimes other materials) using a plasma torch. In this process, an inert gas (in some units, compressed air) is blown at high speed out of a nozzle; at the same time an electrical arc is formed through that gas from the nozzle to the surface being cut, turning some of that gas to plasma. The plasma is sufficiently hot to melt the metal being cut and moves sufficiently fast to blow molten metal away from the cut.
AirPro’s Oxygen Generators can be used to provide an unlimited high purity gas supply for these plasma torches.
Eliminating the expense, inconvenience, hazardous handling, and storage problems associated with purchased liquid or the transportation of high pressure oxygen cylinders. With PSA technology they are the most efficient and dependable generators available today.
Fully automatic, they require no supervision for operation.
